A PROGRAM FULL OF BLOOD... 2009 EDITION!

MACABRO FILM FESTIVAL, the pioneer festival of horror in Mexico (and founding member of the Latin American Alliance of Fantastic Festivals) has announced its gory lineup that will be showcase an eclectic program featuring a retrospective on the films of Herschell Gordon Lewis, along with the latest film from Latin horror cult legend José Mojica Marins (a.k.a. "Coffin Joe"), EMBODIMENT OF EVIL. The festival will open with Yoshihiro Nishimura's TOKYO GORE POLICE.
MACABRO will also feature Rodrigo Gudiño's Rue Morgue Cinema shorts: THE EYES OF EDWARD JAMES, THE DEMONOLOGY OF DESIRE and THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MR. HOLLOW. [Latin Horror recently showcased Gudiño's work as part of its HORRORphiles' "Director's SINema Spotlight" series]
In addition, the eclectic program also focuses on the latest Latin American fantastic productions that include shorts from young Mexican filmmakers, cult filmmaker Christian Gonzalez' recent film, 24 PICTURES OF HORROR, as well as a retrospective of the work of MOLINA, the cult Cuban filmmaker, and films from Brazil and Argentina, such as MORGUE STORY and NADIE INQUIETÓ MAS.
Macabro’s 8th edition will take place in Mexico City from August 19th to 30th. The venues for Macabro this year will be the National Film Archive (Cineteca Nacional), the National University of Mexico (Sala José Revueltas), and the Museum of Mexico City.
